Section 1: How Human Resources Can Help
The Office of Human Resources is the facilitator of the Performance Partnership process. HR works to provide the most effective communications, tools, and processes to enable supervisors and staff members to successfully participate in the process.
We provide training and guidance for supervisors and staff. The core element of the process is the successful interaction between supervisors and staff members. All managers and staff are introduced to the Performance Partnership process at Orientation. Follow-up training is provided for supervisors that focuses on the first two areas of the coaching model (development and problem solving). For the third area, performance improvement, we suggest that supervisors contact the Office of Human Resources for assistance in the preparation of any formal reviews and feedback. This should help to provide consistency and effectiveness to points of performance improvements that are necessary to meet job expectations.
Training is also provided for staff members that focuses on preparing self-assessments and determining strategies for interaction with supervisors.
Successful preparation can increase the likelihood of a mutually beneficial outcome for staff member and supervisor. If a supervisor or staff member has any questions, concerns or need for clarification regarding any aspect of the Performance Partnership process, it is recommended that they begin with the Office of Human Resources. HR is committed to providing the most effective, simple, and clear process to enable these conversations.
