Job Classification Procedures

Job Classification is the process of comparing the duties and qualifications of a position with the categories in the job classification model and assigning the position to the appropriate category, title and pay band.

For classified salaried and hourly staff positions, job reclassification requests should be submitted to Human Resources. You must submit a revised Job Information Questionnaire (JIQ) detailing the current duties of the position. It may be helpful to start with a copy of the JIQ already on file for the position. You may call the Service Center at 443-4042 to request a copy of the JIQ. For bargaining unit positions, supervisors of bargaining unit staff may initiate a reclassification request through the manager, Staff Relations.
