On My Own Time
Winners of 2011 Syracuse University On My Own Time Exhibit
Faculty and staff were honored for their artistic contributions at the closing reception of the On My Own Time (OMOT) exhibition on May 19. A panel of judges from Syracuse University and a panel of professional artists from the Cultural Resources Council chose a total of 15 artworks from the 71 on display at SU's in-house exhibit. The University's OMOT exhibit took place from April 29 - May 18, 2011 in the Noble Room of Hendricks Chapel. Over 30 faculty and staff members participated in the program which included art in a variety of categories including photography, ceramics, drawing and glasswork.
Seven artworks were chosen by the Syracuse University judges:
- "St. Lucy's Cross," mixed media, Roxanna Carpenter
- "dicro dots," jewelry, Denise Dowdall
- "Black Bowl," ceramics, Ray Kowalski
- "Impermanence," glass, Marie Luther
- "Frustration & Accusation", black & white photography, Scott Samson
- "Autumn Dance," oil painting, Beth Sotherden
- "Waiting for Summer," color photography, Joseph Stoll
Artwork selected by the Cultural Resources Council will be on display at the Everson Museum of Art from September 17 - October 16 as part of the On My Own Time (OMOT) program. They are as follows:

- "Frustration & Accusation," black & white photography, Scott Samson
- "A Day for Pooh," ink & ink wash, Beth Sotherden
- "Alex," painting, Jessica Zehr

- "Window Shopper," mixed media, Lynn Hoppel
- "Cuse," color photography, David Harris
- "Hot Chocolate, Please?," color photography, Trudi Porter
- "Baby Milk," jewelry, Penelope Singer
Marie Luther's piece "Impermanence" was voted the "Best of Show" by visitors to the in-house exhibit.
On My Own Time is a creation of The Cultural Resources Council of Syracuse and Onondaga County, in cooperation with the Everson Museum of Art. It was developed as a community arts program to bring visibility to the creative skills of people employed in local businesses. SU is proud to be participating in the 38th year of this program.
