Health Care Reimbursement Program
Part-time faculty eligible for the Modified Benefits Plan may be reimbursed for the cost of: (a) private health insurance coverage that is purchased by the Eligible Bargaining Unit Faculty Member; or (b) health care insurance coverage through another employer (i.e., an employer other than Syracuse University) that is purchased by an Eligible Bargaining Unit Faculty Member.
Reimbursements shall only be made to an Eligible Bargaining Unit Faculty Member if the Eligible Bargaining Unit Faculty Member purchasing such health care insurance coverage is listed as the primary insured.
Reimbursements under the Health Care Reimbursement Program shall be made in accordance with the following schedule:
| 2012 Calendar Year | 2013 Calendar Year | 2014 Calendar Year | |
| Eligible bargaining unit member purchasing private health insurance plan or paying into a non-employer based group plan | $130 per credit hour $1,300 annual cap |
$140 per credit hour $1,400 annual cap |
$150 per credit hour $1,500 annual cap |
| Eligible bargaining unit member purchasing health care insurance through another employer | $65 per credit hour $650 annual cap |
$70 per credit hour $700 annual cap |
$75 per credit hour $750 annual cap |
The per credit hour contribution described in the chart above is calculated on the class load and credit hours completed at the end of each semester. All funds available for eligible reimbursements during a calendar year must be used during that calendar year.
All reimbursements made pursuant to the Health Care Reimbursement Program are included in the gross income of the Eligible Bargaining Unit Faculty Member. Applicable federal and state taxes shall be withheld from each reimbursement payment.
