While your years as an active employee at SU are complete, your connection to SU remains. Your contributions to the University during your career helped shape the SU of today. In return, SU continues to provide certain benefits to you in your retirement years. We encourage you to take advantage of these programs and services. You’ve earned them!
In order to participate in retiree benefits you must be at least age 55 and have at least five consecutive years of service as a Benefits Eligible Employee through retirement. The term “Benefits Eligible Employee” is defined in the Syracuse University Benefits Eligibility Policy and is maintained by the Office of Human Resources. You can find information regarding a variety of benefits and services available to eligible retired faculty and staff by using the navigation listed to the left.
If you are an active SU employee who is considering retiring, we encourage you to schedule an appointment with a Human Resources representative, approximately 6 months prior to retirement, to discuss your benefits upon retirement and ensure that any necessary forms are completed. New retirees are also encouraged to review the retiree benefits summary which provides a brief overview of the benefits and services available upon retirement.
