A Message from Neil Strodel
Associate Vice President – Chief HR Officer

Neil Strodel Did you get your seasonal flu shot?

If you got your seasonal flu shot somewhere other than a doctor’s office (a pharmacy or clinic for example) you may be able to be reimbursed toward the cost of the shot. See the recent announcement about seasonal flu reimbursement for details. The flu, both seasonal and H1N1, is definitely on the minds of many employees and this is a time of year that HR frequently receives calls about sick time and leave information.

This year I encourage you to be proactive in several ways:

  1. Seek out information about SU sick time and leave policies so you will know where to go to get details if and when you need it. Start with HR’s benefits pages.

  2. Familiarize yourself with SU’s H1N1 informational website which will be updated frequently to keep you up to date on campus announcements regarding this particular flu strain.

  3. Discuss contingency plans with your colleagues and supervisor as I outlined in my recent memo to staff.

As always, the HR Service Center stands ready to assist you in any specific questions you may have about sick time or leaves. Contact us at hrservic@syr.edu or 443-4042.
