Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance
Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) coverage through MetLife provides benefits to your family if you die, or to you if you are dismembered, as the result of an accident.
SU-Sponsored Basic AD&D Insurance
All benefits-eligible employees receive SU-sponsored basic AD&D insurance coverage in the amount of $3,000. There is no cost to you for this coverage.
- Coverage between 1 – 10 times your salary (not to exceed $2,000,000) may be purchased.
- Your Supplemental AD&D coverage cannot exceed your Supplemental Life insurance coverage.
- Coverage includes access to travel assistance services (see link below) if you are faced with an emergency while traveling more than 100 miles from home. This service provides you and your dependents medical, travel, legal and financial assistance services any time of the year.
Supplemental AD&D coverage is $.02 (2 cents) per $1,000 of coverage. Premiums are paid through pre-tax payroll deduction and are automatically calculated and adjusted as necessary during the calendar year to reflect changes in your actual salary.

Employees electing to participate in the SU benefit plans are bound by the terms of the governing Plan documents. As is the case with all benefits offered by SU, (1) the Plan Administrator has the discretionary authority to interpret the terms of the Plan and such interpretation will be binding on all interested parties to the fullest extent permitted by law, and (2) the University reserves the right to modify or terminate the Plan at any time.
